Serial Procrastinator

Ermahgerd. I finally finished polishing my resume.

It seriously took more than a month to be completed. Just polishing.

It's no secret. I am a SERIAL PROCRASTINATOR.

Every time I stop to look at my life and promise myself never ever to procrastinate forever and ever, I do it yet again.

It's like cookies. I can never stop.

Is there like a cure? Because I have written so many lists, promise myself so many times that this time will be different.

Is it just me?

Are you a serial procrastinator?

Please leave a comment down below telling me how you prevent procrastination or at least try to, and I may include you in my next post (and judging by my consistent posting, it will be soon ;-)

Have a great weekend!

P.S. Got new helmets today. Finally!

I have been travelling with a faulty helmet for so long that it is starting to feel that the old man doesn't love me.

Thank God that the Government of Sri Lanka imposed a new law that does not allow motorcyclists to use helmets that cover the entire face (which includes those with tinted visors).

Or else Wayne would have continued using his old helmet, and wouldn't find the need to get a new one. Hence, he wouldn't have gotten me one!

But all's good.

My Food: Simple Chicken Stew with Coconut Milk

Made this yesterday and it was absolutely GOOD! The veggies melt in the mouth and the chicken is beautifully flavored. I think this is lovely to eat during a rainy day with a bowl of hot steaming rice.

I present to you a simple, chicken stew with coconut milk.

INGREDIENTS
chicken thighs (cut the meaty parts off into bite-sized chunks and those who love chewing on bones can have the rest =3 )
1 large red onion (sliced)
1 cup potatoes (unpeeled, cut into bite-sized chunks)
1 cup carrots (also cut into bite-sized chunks)
1 cup coconut milk (3 tablespoons of coconut milk powder mixed with 1 cup water)
1 (Knorr) chicken cube (crushed and dissolved into 1 cup of water)
1 tablespoon pepper
1 tablespoon curry powder
Salt to taste
1/2 teaspoon chili flakes

DIRECTIONS
Put all ingredients in a small sauce-pot and mix thoroughly. Partly covered, put on the stove on medium for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

What I did was, as I prepared each ingredient (cutting chicken, onions, etc.), I placed them one after the other into the pot. That way, I did not have a lot of cleaning up to do. Basically, just the chopping board and knife, the measuring cup, and the sauce-pot and ladle.

Try this! A little hot, but really good.

Happy cooking.

P.S. If you do try this, please leave me a comment!

I Want: Places To Go / Things To Do

Every year, I would like to save money to go somewhere and do something exciting. Next year would be to go to Malaysia to go shopping and visit an amusement park to do at least one exciting ride e.g. roller coaster! Weee!

Other things I would like to go/do include:

1. Go on a cruise

2. Walk part of the Great Wall of China

3. Climb Mount Kinabalu [Malaysia]

4. Backpack across Europe

What are the places or things that you would consider going/doing in the near future?

Have a great week!

I Want: Wacom Bamboo Capture

On my Christmas wishlist this year (or the next) would definitely be the

It's super awesome [from what I read from the reviews] plus I think it would satisfy all my artistic needs.

I have always loved drawing and creating digital art; but sadly, never had the right tools. A couple of years ago, when I participated in a mascot competition [to be submitted in digital form], I combined traditional and digital methods.

What did I mean by that?
1. I sketched my idea on paper and outlined rigorously.
2. I took a picture of the mascot using my Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro 5MP camera.
3. I transferred the digital form into my laptop.
4. Using Paint and Adobe® Photoshop®, I re-outlined and filled in the colours, tactfully adding shading; all these using just a mouse.

Using a mouse [to draw and manipulate an image] took time and patience. It was harder to control compared to a pen or a pencil due to its flatter design to fit your palm.

So, when I discovered Wacom products, I was over the moon. After going through the Wacom website and reading about its products, I decided to go for the Wacom Bamboo Capture. The reason I didn't go for the Cintiq or Intuos line was because I am not an advanced user, yet. I am only looking for something to meet my basic need for sketching/drawing and creating logos, etc.

According to the website, the Bamboo Capture is a great choice for anyone working on digital images and having fun with photos.  It is also one of the most popular models in the Bamboo line compared to the Bamboo Splash and the Bamboo Create due to perhaps price and specs. I didn't choose the Bamboo Splash because of the software included while the Bamboo Create is only more expensive, I think, because of its larger size.

The basic price of the Bamboo Capture would be USD 99, which include two softwares in the box: Adobe® Photoshop® Elements and Autodesk® Sketchbook® Express. Cool!

If I were to buy this product in Sri Lanka, ABC Computers (Pvt) Ltd would probably be my first stop. I read [online] that ABC Computers (Pvt) Ltd has partnered with Wacom, making it the Island's first Wacom concept store. It is located at Ward Place, Colombo 7. I'm not sure of the pricing because its website did not specify but I think it should come to around LKR 20, 000 max.

Project: Organize Online Accounts

I was previously using "Pristine Jae" in most of my emails and as usernames (from when I used to long for a better sounding name). However, I believe that it would be better if I use an email that better represents me; I now prefer to use my name in my email.

So this project will see me creating a new Gmail account that will be used for all my social networking accouts like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

As for my old email accounts (pristine_jae@hotmail.com; pristine_jae@rocketmail.com; pshe1989@gmail.com), I will be going through each accounts to sync all created external accounts such as gaming sites with my new email Gmail account.

Project Deadline: 31 July 2013

By the aforementioned date, all online accounts will be using jaimindaniels.perishe@gmail.com.

To an organized online life!

You Can Change Your Facebook U R L

If you're like me and thought that choosing you're Facebook URL is a one-time thing, you're wrong! You can do it ONE more time!

Ages ago, when Facebook asked me to choose a unique username that will appear in my Facebook URL, I didn't give it much thought. I just went with my current email address.

However, due to a recent decision to make my online presence more professional - which involved ditching usernames and email addresses that did not use my name - I wanted to also change my Facebook URL.

So, here's the step-by-step to changing your Facebook URL:

1. Log in to Facebook.

2. Click the gear icon in the upper-right corner, which can be found on any Facebook page, and select Account Settings.

3. Click the Edit link in the same line as Username.

4. Enter your new URL/username in the text box provided. You will then be required to enter your current password to make the change.

DONE.

Please note:

* Your URL/username can only be changed ONCE and should be something you will be happy with in the long term. It should also preferably include your real name.

* Your Facebook URL/username is unique to you; you cannot change it to one that is already in use.

* Your old URL/username will no longer work; so remember to make the necessary changes to links that you have incorporated your old Facebook URL. For instance, if you have a blog with a Facebook icon that links to your profile.

Blogilates: Week 1 Day 3 - Fail!

Sigh.

But to my defense, I did wake up and do 10 roll ups. Just didn't have the time.

Missed you, Cassey!

Better luck tomorrow!

Blogilates: Week 1 Day 2

Awesome! Actually passed the one-day mark! (Normally, my venture into anything exercise-related only last one day. LOL.)

Anyways, it was a little tough, but super fun; especially the ABC Abs routine.

Day 3, here I come!

Blogilates: Week 1 Day 1

Loved it!

Cassey just looks so faultless and graceful doing the moves. Me, on the other hand, looked like a whale out of water. LOL. For instance, I was all over the mat while she looks anchored to hers; how does she do it? I still haven't mastered the breathing technique either; my breathes were also all over the place. LOL.

But like I said, loved it!

Anyways, can't wait for tomorrow!

Project: Clean and Organize Apartment

Happy Sunday, my beautiful people!

For the next week, starting tomorrow, I plan to actually move into our apartment. What I really mean by that is all our things will move into where they really belong.

At the moment, everything (and everyone) is everywhere. This has resulted in huge messes and clutters. Ugh!

Besides, if I'm going to have friends over next weekend, they should at least be greeted with a pleasant living space, and not a sight for sore eyes.

THINGS TO BUY AND DO

1(a) Buy hangers so that all clothes have somewhere to hang out. Get it? LOL.

1(b) Buy baskets for underwear and whatnot.

2. Organize shoes onto shoe rack. And buy another shoe rack.

3. Sweep, dust, and mop. Sterilize floor with Dettol. No more shoes allowed into living space. I'm so Asian. LOL.

4. Only beauty and fashion items on dressing table. All stationary, out! You, Pencil Colors, go stay where Laptop and Mouse are. On the table. LOL.

5. Put clothes, bed sheet and pillow cases to wash. And find two more pillow cases.

6. Organize kitchenette.

7. Clean bathroom.

I think that's about it. For now. Plus, don't forget about my Blogilates schedule!

By the way, I didn't start yesterday :S But will do tomorrow!

Have a great day, peeps!

Finally! | Adding Social Media Icons to Blogger

After going through a dozen websites on how to add social media icons like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc., which by the way, all seem to suggest manually editing HTML, I finally found a more simple and easy way of doing so. Yay! P.S. It still involves HTML.

I even got a free set of social media icons from her blog, which I am currently using [on the left under Follow Me!]. If you like what I'm using, just click the image below! And follow the steps as mentioned in the How-To

Happy blogging!

It's Hardwork + Blogilates

As someone who has worked with the basics of HTML and web designs, I know how much work gets into designing a website, in this case, a blog.

It's all about aesthetics, and if you're OCD like me, then you're always going for perfection. I find that I spend way too much time in thinking how others will perceive the overall design of my blog: Will it look nice and interesting?; Is it too cluttered- and messy-looking?; Do the font styles and sizes used work with each other?, etc.

It's crazy.

I think it's been a full day that I've been re-designing my blog. And here it is. Not so fancy, eh? Sometimes, I do think that the effort put into making a website look good can be overlook by laypeople. They don't realize the brain power that was used up in the process.

I think this applies to most of my work. Throughout the years, I have been involved in various media projects like web designs, logo designs, video editing, and even making a movie. I don't think that my work is fully appreciated for what they are really worth.

But then again, this is something I truly enjoy!

Look at me. Rambling on. LOL.

Well anyways, I am on a tone-my-body mission. And pilates via blogilates is the way to go. After years of fruitless new year resolutions, this might actually work.

Found out about blogilates and Cassey Ho from YouTuber BubzBeauty (click the links to check them out!). Can't wait to go through the Beginner's Calendar!

Wish me luck.

WILL. START. TOMORROW. FOR. SURE.

Shoot me if I don't :3

Inconsiderate

Some people are just so inconsiderate. Even though you have a major problem at hand, that you have clearly told them over and over again, they choose not to address the issue and do not have even an ounce of thought to at least help you in the best way they can. Instead, they go on talking about other things that I seriously can't give a shit about, like a stupid trip. Seriously? I mean I'm in deep (monetary) shit, but there you are asking if everything's okay. Duhhh, it's not! God, please forgive me. But I can't take this shit anymore. I just want to seriously crawl into a hole and hide.

Please show some consideration, and don't go la-la-ing away with your silly banter about how funny you are. Sheesh. May God give those who blatantly walk on this Earth the sensibility to think about others.

I feel a little better now. Back to doing what I do best, worrying, and don't you dare ask me not to!

Hey, Suns and Beaches! I Changed My Blog Title

Alright! After more than a year NOT checking into Blogger, I'm back.

First off, I have changed my blog title from "Perishe's Rants & Whatnot" to
"Hey, Suns and Beaches!

Now, you may wonder, why have I chosen such a ghastly sounding title. Well, I just think it sounds catchy. And I like playing with my words. Anyways, I don't intend on starting any hate or misunderstanding towards my future blog posts just because of the title. And really, I don't care what you haters might think. AND if it really bothers you, stay tune. I might even change the title of my blog [just because].

Have a great weekend, everyone.

And don't forget to drink water
