Holiday-ing with Movies

For this semester's break (by the way, I just finished my first semester in my BA (Hons.) in Business Administration), we got more than one month to do our own thing and chill. That's pretty damn long. Yeah. And with all the travelling plans done for the past few months, I finally got to go back to Sri Lanka after more than two years.

But with Wayne and his family off to work during the weekdays, I have the mornings and afternoons to myself. So, what I did most of the time was download and watch movies. Don't get me wrong, I'm so not complaining. That's because it is the holidays. Yeah. That's what we should do during the holidays. Eat, sleep, eat, sleep, watch movies, eat some more, chill, do nothing, and sleep. The cycle goes on.

Here are the movies I watched during my three-week stay at the Daniels:

2. Paul

4. Beastly

6. Tron

14. Dear John

I also watched Modern Family and the Big Bang Theory

Awesome holiday ever!

Prince of Borneo - Part III

I am about to continue the Prince of Borneo Chronicles, which is a true story happening perhaps in a parallel dimension.

Dear readers, if you have been following the story of Prince JJ, you would know a little more about him and his adventure. Well, anyways, this is the original story line that involves an illogical yet believable twist.

So, here goes...

Prince JJ never knew how special he was. Underneath it all, he was made for something larger than life.

At 18, he enrolled at Sku-Ul. Although, he wasn't doing well academically, he was flying with rainbow colours when it came to talking to the public. It wasn't uncommon to see him at all functions held at the institution, often as an Emcee.

The next two years saw him growing into the most popular bachelor of the decade. He had a way of talking into the hearts of others. But he had his six loyal friends who were always there for him.

On his 20th birthday, he discovered something weird going on with him. He felt light-headed and he felt like floating. When he looked into the floor-to-ceiling mirror, he saw that his feet were indeed not touching the ground. At first he felt weird, but then decided that it was all a dream.

But to make sure that it was not a dream, he summoned Datin, one of his six loyal friends. She was a fairy that had good listening skills with an entertaining, outrageous laugh. With a flourish, she appeared before him. As usual, her tudung skills baffled him. She made 20 rounds of clothe wrapped around her head looked like nothing. Because she was such a good listener, he told her what was going on with him. With one look at Prince JJ, Datin nodded and said:

"JJ, I think you are going on a magical adventure very soon. The people around you might not be who you think they are."

And with a puff of blue smoke and her signature laugh, she was gone.

Prince JJ shook his head. It was a little too much for him. He decided it wasn't a dream after all. So, he went to the garden to get fresh air. Watering the plants was Pablo, decked in a white Polo shirt, sweating his guts out. "Hey," muttered Paulo. "Do you think it's possible that I can fly?" asked Prince JJ. "Yeah, and pigs can fly, and my car's a Lamborghini Gallardo." he replied, being his sarcastic self as usual.

Prince JJ sighed. Although he loved Paulo, he could be such a douche sometimes, a lovable douche. "This is not helping," he thought. I have to find the person who can relate to him better. So off he went to find Cewek Pilo, who was naturally with Challie. They were fooling around, rolling all over in a wrestling heap. "Ouch!" Challie called out, "You bit me, again." Cewek Pilo just laughed. She was from a royal family too. Whereas Prince JJ was from Indonesia, Cewek Pilo was from the Philipines with a twist. You see, Paulo thought she was from Indonesia so he called her Cewek Malolo (for some reason, Malolo refers to Indonesian). Then he found out that she's actually from the Philipines, so the name Cewek Pilo (Philipino+Malolo) was born.

Anyways, she was playing with Challie. Challie has magic fingers. He could play any tune. Just say it, and his fingers will do the magic. "Can I have your hands?" Pablo could be often found asking Challie. He was also one of the sweetest guys you could meet. That was why Cewek Pilo found it easy to fool around with Challie.

As royals, there was a bond between Prince JJ and Cewek Pilo. So, he was compelled to ask her opinion about the changes he was going through. In addition with his new-found flying abilities, his body was getting muscular. Cewek Pilo just shook her head solemnly and told him, "I think the secret lays between you and Nahior."

Prince JJ never considered it and decided to give it more thought. Nahior was his bashful and indifferent companion, and they have a rather complicated relationship. Nahior was also his Pathfinder. A Pathfinder is someone that trains and helps princes and princesses to find their way in life. Although not in presence, they were connected with each other on a different level. What Prince JJ did not know was that Nahior was more than just his Pathfinder. Nahior was actually also his Guardian, a legendary figure known to live among us unknowingly to guide the Chosen One.

"Am I the Chosen One?" wonders Prince JJ. He decided to pay Jonny Depp, his pirate friend, a visit to arrange a voyage to the beautiful island of Anropmes. "OK," said Jonny Depp, "But first, let's hear some Korean songs. Have you heard..." Before Jonny could continue, Prince JJ let out a sigh. "I think we should skip the music and meet Nahior. It's urgent."

So off went Prince JJ and Jonny Depp to Anropmes Island. When they reached there, Nahior greeted them. "I have waited for this a long time. Come with me and I shall show you the Way."

Prince JJ followed Nahior to a beautiful fountain in the middle of the island. To his surprise, he saw all his friends in the reflection of the water. "Those you see here are you're greatest gifts. They will be with you in this journey we call life. And with this, you shall... fly." With a great light, Prince JJ saw that he could fully float and control his moves. He shouted back at Nahior, "Thanks. I will never forget you for showing me who matters in life. And they are those who have been with me through thick and thin. Including you." With that, Prince JJ flew back to the Mainland to serve as the greatest and most powerful king of that century.

Prince JJ

The six faces he saw at the Anropmes fountain were:
Datin - The Wise Listener
Pablo - The Mighty (and Undesignated Driver)
Cewek Malolo - The Athlete
Challie - The Guitar Hero
Jonny Depp - The Confused, Condemned and Confirmed
Me (Ke$ha) - The Trumpeter and Scholar

THE END (or is it?)

The Long Wait

Waiting, just waiting. That's what I'm doing at the airport. To be more precise, the Kuala Lumpur LCC Terminal. It's not that bad though. That's because with my new phone, I get to download awesome stuff. Android is the way to go. But the best part is I get to chat with my boyfriend. Oh yeah. I'm on the way to meet him. Well, at least by tomorrow. So I'm off to download more stuff.

Blog you peeps when I reach there.

Prince of Borneo - Birthday Surprise (Special Edition)

Recently, the Prince of Borneo celebrated his 20th birthday. It wasn't all fancy dancy, but it was definitely a meaningful and full of fun day for JJ and his friends.

Watch the following video to get a full feel of a birthday surprise fit for a prince. As the camera girl, I would like to apologize in advance for the poor video-taking. And kudos to Datin and Pablo for putting the video together.

Thank you for watching.

Prince of Borneo - Part II

It all started one night (Monday, May 23, 2011)...

Guy: Haaaloo, Uncle [to Pablo].. Boleh mnta $$ kah? Satu ringgit kah? Atau 20 sen?

JJ: *pusing belakang, ketakutan* Bha, Pablo. Apa macam ni?

[Pablo 2011 via Facebook]

TRANSLATION

Guy: Haaaloo, Uncle [to Paulo].. Can you spare me some change? A dollar? Or even 20 cents?

JJ: *turning away nervously* So, my dear Pablo, what ever are we going to do?

We were actually on our way (JJ, Pablo, Jonny Depp, Datin, Challie, Cewek Pilo, and me) from a lavish dinner by the roadside. As usual, JJ had nothing but the best, and so did Datin and Challie. By the way, they are all royals. Datin is the reigning queen of Labuan, whilst Challie is the King of Rock a.k.a. Guitar Hero. So, of course they had scrumptious chicken bathe with creamy sambal sauce. And, let's not forget about Datin's inability to eat vegetables.

So, anyways. We were on our way back when a scruffy looking guy came our way. It so happened that we were walking through a pretty dark alley, with Sitis (Si Tikus = rats) running all around, as big as chickens, mind you. Maybe seeing the tall and handsome Pablo (JJ's gardener or better known as the handsomest, cutest looking man or EVEN BETTER, JJ's scandal), the weird, toothless guy went straight to him. When he noticed Your Highnest JJ, he turned to him. But luckily Bodyguard a.k.a Kacak a.k.a JJ's scandal, or simply Pablo, was there to save the day, or should I say night.

As for the rest, especially Datin and I, were away as fast as lightning. Cewek, on the other hand, make dunno and walked straight while Challie just made his Buargggh look *eh, takazut sia*.

Well, when we reached the Dorm at Sku-Ul, JJ let out a scream. He was never that scared before (or has he *evil laugh*).

Few minutes later, he posted this on Facebook:

‎Dear me. Not only was this kingdom have less places to eat out and completely full of rubbish, BUT, this place (which I will conquer very soon), also has stupid !@#$% strangers everywhere. Oh, please excuse my language. Even if my entourage walk with me in a group, that stupid guy still dared to ask for $$ from a soon-to-be Prince. He even kept following us!

My fellow merry men, thank you for spending your time with me: Pablo, Challie, *me , Cewek Pilo, Jonny Depp and Datin =D

Prince of Borneo - Part I

The story I am about to tell you is the first of many parts. It is about this young man who was loved by everyone. His name is James Earring Poloko Manireng. JJ for short. He was as bright as the sun and he captured the hearts of everyone. The perfect attribute of a prince.

It all started when he had to go away from home to be a scholar on the Mainland. All his life he was confined under the watchful eyes of the Elders. The move abroad smelt like freedom for JJ. His first day at the Sku-Ul, the established place where scholars went to get educated, was just the beginning. In just one semester, he was already making friends with half of the student population. By the beginning of the second semester, not only were professors and students alike greeting him in the hallways, but local townsfolk in nearby shops and restaurants were calling his name whenever he passed by.

Although the number of friends that JJ knew were growing day by day, he had a few close friends who were with him through thick and thin. Pablo, Jonny Depp, Datin, Challie, Cewek Pilo, and me. The seven of us were always together and we were like a family. Each of us were different in our own ways yet so similar in thought.

But it was not all rainbows and butterflies for JJ. Little did he knew that he was meant for even greater things. He was the Chosen One... Gaga, ooh la laa... Roma, roma ah...

Staying Up

Good morning. It's Sunday! Yesterday was Saturday, and tomorrow's Monday (really, Rebecca Black?) Wow, didn't really sleep at all. But before you think of club hopping and booze, let me stop you there.

I have honestly gone clubbing only TWICE since I came back to Sabah in 2008, which is considerably surprising given the fact that I used to go out a lot before till 6 in the morning back in Sri Lanka. I guess I just kinda matured? LOL. In a way, I guess. I mean, I laugh a lot, and those who don't really know might think I'm insane or just plain childish.

But in other aspects, I think I'm grown up. I mean I'm going to be 22 this December. That's pretty old. Sigh. This post is getting to be a little boring, isn't it?

Well, let's get to the point. I procrastinate a lot. And so, since we have a test on Monday and an assignment due on Wednesday, I've decided to stay in the college lounge. In fact, I have been here for 23 hours since 9am yesterday. That long, right?

You must be thinking: Wow, she spent so long there, bet she studied and finished her assignment... Haha. You're sooo wrong. I've only started reading my notes this early morning. The entire day and night was spent Gaia-ing and YouTubing and a little touchup on my assignment.

Sigh. The woe of life: being a procrastinator.

♥ ♥ God, help me and give me the strength to push through  ♥ ♥

♥ ♥ ♥ Good day, world. May today is spent studying ardently ♥ ♥ ♥

A Day Out With My Bestie

Last Saturday, Meera and I decided to go to Suria Sabah to check out books at Times so we can get references from actualbooks. And I would say it was fun. Just us girls hanging out doing what we wanted to in no hurry at all.

You know how it is when you go out with the boys. They will sigh and moan and become restless when it comes to malls and girls. Have you ever taken a guy or a bunch of dudes to go shopping at the mall or even to Servay? After a few minutes, their eyes start glazing over and soon they fidget and emit an aura of complete utter boredom.

Like the other day when a group of us went to the mall to go watch a movie. What movie? I can't remember. But what I do remember is that we girls have the tendency to disappear at an amazing speed when passing through boutiques or any shop that catches the eye, while guys are more focus on reaching their destination, in this case, the cinema.

It's funny how the guys had to stop abruptly to look around where Meera and I have disappeared to, just to find us ooh-ing and ahh-ing at high heels.

Anyways, back to the topic. We took the bus (although James thought that we two might get lost in the concrete jungle LOL), and got to Suria Sabah safely. Imagine the freedom we felt. Just us girls. Hehe. Stopping at any shop without having to inform or hear the sighs of the guys. Of course our main task was to go to Times. It was relaxing and we got to get our references. We even bought Oxford dictionaries (and now we're going to have Word of the Day :D) that costs around RM30.00 but definitely worth it because these included Thesaurus!

So all was well after we got out from the bookshop... until we decided to use the lift to go down. LOL. We nicely got into a crowded lift, just to find it going up instead of down. And when the lift doors opened, we found ourselves back on the same floor! I swore I pressed the right button. LOL. Us being our laughing and giggly selves, literally laughed ourselves to the conveniently close-by ladies.

I found that was so much fun. See. We can have fun, too, without the gang. Although... We do miss Rudolf's wit and sarcasm, James' bubbly persona, and even Jonathan! Not forgetting, of course, Yee.

After the laughing fit we had at the lifts, we went for a bite at Big Apple. Then, we went to Wisma Merdeka to look at shoes and clothes, but mostly shoes. After taking the city bus, we went to Wawasan Plaza to buy water bottles. Again, we laughed and joked at the bottles section until the attendants told us jokingly not to laugh too much or else we'll faint. LOL. Meera and I disagree because we know what actually happens if you laugh too much: a trip to the loo close at hand! LOL. In the end, only I got a pink bottle. I love it! But I do think the price was a little too dear.

Even the trip back on the bus was a laugh. We sat at the far end where our heads could already reach the ceiling of the bus. At every bump, we had to duck or stand a chance to win a knock on the head!

Meera, we should do this again! It was fun hanging out with you, LFFL!
